We're an informal group of self-identified women who like to make things - and since drinking adult beverages is involved, we ask that you be at least 21. Guys can be invited as a "plus one" (+1), but this is primarily a hang out time for women.
Many of us are coding on our "forever projects", or learning a new language, but you can work on something else if you choose. If you're working on a project and would like to spend time with a friendly group of people on a Sunday afternoon while you work on it, join us. The purpose is to get us out of our home offices, cubicles, or shops, and socialize while we work on the stuff we want to work on. We are not affiliated with any brand or corporation. What we are affiliated with is laughter, working, and occasional career advice. Andrea is The Bad Career Advice fairy. Maybe you could be the good one? We just lost ours to a promotion and relo to Hawaii. Really. No joke.
We begin to gather at 4pm and last until we get kicked out of our location (usually 7pm), but there is no need for punctuality. We often go out to dinner or drinks after, but not always. It just depends.
We plan our next meeting before people begin to leave the current meeting. We do try to swap between east side and west side meeting locations, but we've lost our east side recently, so have been doing the west side because we can find Sunday space here more readily. If you've got a location space you would like us to consider, bring it up in the meeting. We do ask that bus accessibility be considered. We also set up car pools, so consider volunteering for one.
We're "pot-luck" for both drinks & food unless the location has them available. We still have Halloween candy we're sharing out. So, plan on bringing a bit of both to share with the group. Bring whatever you'd like to drink: beer, wine, water, whatever. It's good to bring glasses or cups as well, if your beverage isn't bottled or individually canned already.
We send out directions for our next meetup location via email once we've got a firm location. This is an effort to keep this meetup "free" and running without any charges. So, please sign up for the newsletter @ MadMimi to receive not only the reminders, but also the location information and reminders for the next meeting. We look forward to meeting you!
